Exploring ideas for teaching in drama spaces and bridging the gap for drama educators. Drama Victoria will kick start the year with a PL event not to be missed!

Every year our Jumpstart mini-conference is well received by members who are looking for exciting ways to engage students and stimulate their creativity. Jumpstart is a PL event for P–12 teachers with specific workshops designed for primary, middle years, VCE theatre studies and VCE drama.

Lunch will be provided as part of your registration and the Drama Victoria AGM will be held to update members briefly on the committee of management business in 2011.

Jumpstart- Bridging the Gap provides a number of fantastic workshops for teachers to choose from. The day is broken into 3 sessions and allows for teachers to dive deeper into the final session with presenters in a 2 hour workshop. Session 1 (9.15-10.30am)

  2. Stripping the Sterotype: Using anti-naturalistic techniques to support enquiry into 'teen' issues- Helen Cahill (middle years to Senior Secondary)
  3. Speed Dating through Theatre History- Nicole Smith (Middle Years to VCE Theatre Studies)
  4. Preparing Students for the Solo- Eli Erez (VCE Drama)

Session 2 (11.00- 12.30pm)

  1. Junk Puppetry- Polyglot Theatre Company (Primary to Middle Years)
  2. Multi-Media in the Drama Classroom (Middle Years to Senior Secondary)
  3. Ensemble Incubator- Justin Cash (VCE Drama)
  4. Preparing Students for the Monologue- Lyndy Clarke (VCE Theatre Studies)

Session 3 (2.00- 4.00pm)

  1. Jumping off the Page- Philippa Bell (Primary to Middle Years)
  2. Movement for the Middle Years- Peter Tserbis (Middle years to Senior Secondary)
  3. Playmaking and Ensemble Performance Workshop- Rosa Campagnaro (Middle Years to VCE Drama)
  4. The Actors Voice- Tony Smith VCA (Middle Years to VCE Theatre Studies)
