Founded in 1968, Drama Victoria is the oldest Drama teacher association in Australia, dedicated to advancing Drama and Theatre education in the state. Its mission is to support, develop, and advocate for Drama education, with a focus on empowering educators through imagination. As a charitable association, Drama Victoria aims to promote education and research in Drama and Theatre, benefiting both educators and students across the region.
The association’s purpose includes offering mentorship, networking, and resources to all Drama and Theatre educators, particularly those in rural or isolated areas. It emphasizes the development of sustainable professional practices and supports educators from diverse backgrounds, including First Nations, LGBTQIA+, and those from various cultural, linguistic, and social groups. Drama Victoria also works to foster Drama and Theatre as both a distinct subject area and an effective pedagogical approach across the curriculum.
